When MoMA unveiled their Century of the Child: Growing By Design exhibition in 2012, Disegno asked me to look into the prophetic social theorist and design reformer, Ellen Key, who published her book The Century of the Child in her native Sweden on New Year's Day 1900. In it, she imagined the coming century as a period of intense focus around the rights, education and wellbeing of children. The exhibition, curated by Juliet Kinchin and Aidan O’Connor, was one of my all time favorites.
